Annual KidCare Toy Drive: est. 2009
buy priligy in the us Since 2009, we have hosted an annual Toy Drive to benefit the more than 700 kids served through Since 2009, we have hosted an annual Toy Drive to benefit the 750+ kids served through Homes for the Homeless’ family residences and early education and afterschool programs. Our signature event has collected well over 12,000 toys and raised funds enabling us to sponsor and create many activities. Each year, we host a Holiday Party for a group of children served by Homes for the Homeless, complete with toys, games, balloon animals, and of course ice cream!

Annual Tee Ball est. 2010 & Baseball team est. 2017
Since 2010 we have sponsored a Tee Ball Team for Homes for the Homeless ages 5-7yrs that competes in the Rosedale Tee Ball League. In 2017, Schweid & Sons began sponsoring the Baseball team for kids 8-12yrs. The season starts with an opening day parade followed by the kids playing in at least 10 games. Every season is capped off with a trip to a MLB baseball game. Special thanks to Dave Bossolina and Schweid & Sons for helping to sponsor the teams.

Annual Schweid & Sons B-Ball and Burger Basketball Tournament: est 2013
Since 2010 we have sponsored a Tee Ball Team for Homes for the Homeless ages 5-7yrs that Hosted since 2013, this basketball tournament and BBQ takes place at the Saratoga Family Residence located in Queens. Since its inception, we have over 200 kids from all of Homes for the Homeless’ sites and programs participate. The day is filled with basketball, special guests, gifts for the kids (thanks to the NY Knicks), and a delicious BBQ with Schweid & Sons burgers on the menu. Special thanks to Jamie Schweid and Schweid & Sons for sponsoring the tournament and the NY Knicks for providing giveaways for the kids.

Annual Soccer Team: Est. in 2016
Hosted since 2016, this 10 Week long season allows the kids another opportunity to compete and grow as a team.

Bi-Annual Job Hops: est 2010
In affiliation with Homes for the Homeless – Picture speed dating meets job interviews as we bring together young adults with professionals ranging from designers to people in finance and TV personalities. This gives the children exposure to many career paths in an exciting / fun atmosphere. To date we have hosted five job hops and look forward to hosting many more. Since inception we have hosted over 12 Job Hops with 100+ children participating being exposed to a variety of careers.

Annual Summer Guitar Program: est 2013
Since 2013, we have helped coordinate the sponsorship of a music activity specialist for Homes for Homes for the Homeless Summer Camps. In addition, we facilitated the one-time donation of 13 new acoustic guitars to the camps enabling adolescent boys and girls to be exposed to guitar lessons during their two-week camp stays. Music activities will continue once again during all three sessions of the 2019 Summer Camp season. Special thank you to Ian Linde for sponsoring the program and to Alana Zinn for originally securing the guitars for donation.

Annual Saratoga NFL Flag Football Team: est 2014
Established in 2014 this NFL Flag Football team is made up of children from the Saratoga Family Inn. The 10- and 11-year-olds that make up the Saratoga Eagles are on the gridiron every Saturday throughout the fall.

Yoga classes: est 2011
This program began in 2011 in a “Mommy & Me” class allowing moms a chance to relax and clear their minds while spending valuable time with their children. It evolved into weekly classes at the Prospect and Saratoga Family Residences where the children have time to relax and exercise with professional instructors.

HFH Teen Leader Award: ongoing
At the HFH Summer Camps, the Teen Leaders serve as role models for younger campers. Since 2014 we have awarded two awards each summer to one of the 14-year-old and one of the 15-year-old Teen Leader. These teens are selected because they demonstrate an all-embracing commitment to the Homes for the Homeless Summer Camps mission, possess innovative leadership qualities, and are great positive mentors for their younger peers. This award encourages continued participation in community life and provides resources for the teen recipients to implement in their educational goals.

Food Pantry
We sponsor an on-site Food Pantry that supplements the grocery needs of families at the Williamsbridge Family Residence.

Various Field Trips
KidCare believes that hands-on learning and exploration are important for every kid and sponsors STEM and science-related field trips for kids from HFH sites. Trips have included stalwarts like The Bronx Zoo as well as places like the Chemistry Show and the Museum of Modern Pinball that exposes children to mechanical engineering, math, and architecture in a fun and playful setting.

End of Session Carnivals at HFH Summer Camps est 2016
KidCare sponsors three Carnivals that take place toward the end of each two-week sleepaway camp session at HFH’s Camps Lanowa and Wakonda. These carnivals are loads of fun with everything from ice cream and cotton candy to face painting, arts and crafts, and a Dunk Tank. Campers and counselors have a ball at this event, which is a big summer camp tradition.

KidCare Partnerships in 2018
KidCare uses its extensive network of friends and volunteers to enhance programming and opportunities for the children at HFH—from gardening with kids at the Prospect to meditation classes with Brian, In addition, Chef Tamara cooked up some amazing breakfast treats with the kids from Prospect and Williamsbridge and volunteers from Tools & Tiaras are exposing the girls at Saratoga to the construction and trades fields through hands-on workshops and chats. Barclays hosted two events again this year Annual Ice Skating & Bowling events hosting over 100 kids combined. Invesco also once again hosted a Coat Drive for the kids.

Education in Dance: ongoing
Children at the Prospect Family Inn’s Early Childhood Education Center always loved music and dancing. With this in mind, we tried to bring their interest to another level by providing a grant that allowed Education in Dance to establish an eight-week residency at PFI. These
instructors take a comprehensive approach to teaching children about music and dance – they focus not only on the arts, but on self-esteem and healthy eating as well.

Wildlife Theater in Manhattan: ongoing
The Central Park Zoo’s Wildlife Theatre brings their Animal Adventures program to the daycare at the Clinton Family Inn. The children loved the puppet show, which uses “Frankie the Frog” and other pond animals to teach kids about basic animal concepts like shape, sound, and motion.

After School Arts Program with HFH: ongoing
Since 2010 we have helped fund yearlong, weekly dance classes for Saratoga elementary, middle and high school students. The grant has allowed children to see a Broadway show, a first for most of the children. Groups of children saw ImaginOcean, The Addams Family, and Sister Act. At the Prospect Family Inn, the KidCare grant purchased six child-friendly digital cameras and photography kits for the children to use on field trips, and to document daily activities and special events.

LAFH Kids go the the 2011 All Star Game Festivities
We had the opportunity to take over 50 children living in the LAFH Shelter to the 2011 NBA All-Star game festivities in Los Angeles. This event provided the kids with a once in a lifetime experience and to say the least we all had a blast!!
