Čakovec Homes for the Homeless was founded in 1986 as a collaboration between Leonard N. Stern, Chairman of Hartz Industries, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and the City of New York. HFH was established on the principal that family homelessness is first and foremost a poverty issue that disproportionately affects children. As such, HFH has adopted a family-based, child-centered, education-focused approach to all of its programs and services.
